Default Saharan dust deposits in Lincolnshire.

After a day of hot and humid southerlies, came a day of day of some
rather impressive deep instability across the southeastern portion of
the UK. My local area (near to RAF Cranwell) got very little
precipitation (0.6mm on the 21 Z NCM 28/06/11) although there were
plenty of rumbles of thunder heard in the distance through the first
half of the day. Post rainfall I however noticed some reasonable
deposits of fine dust on all the vehicles in my area, I only cleaned
my car yesterday…..

I‘ve not seen this in a fair few years (although I have been living
across the in the western half of the UK up until the last 18 months).

I’m thinking perhaps Saharan in origin and found that the link below
that suggests ~75 mgm-2 a wet dust deposition happened across a swathe
of the UK today. Peak totals suggested 250 mgm-2 plus in the very far
southeast! Some places must have got 20mm plus of rainfall today, how
much dust was deposited in these spots?

Here’s the link (Although the data may have moved on by tomorrow)

I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen in their areas over
the last day and how long is it since it last happened?
