Thanks Will, interesting fact. Only 167.3mm rain so far this year in
Raunds, East Northants.
The lack of shower activity is most noticeable in Winter in a cold
airmass. Snow showers are
a frustrating rarity here

Need the wind in the NNE off the Wash for
any heavy snow showers, odd ones
make it through the Cheshire gap. Never had more than 4cm level snow
last winter
Cheers,
Ian,

I did a study a while back looking into the climatology of airmass showers
over the UK using radar data at 5km resolution and neural network processed
satellite data. It's been published in a back issue of Weather magazine (Vol
60 No 6 2005). Northamptonshire was the least showery area IIRC of the whole
of Great Britain and Northern Ireland!
