The North Sea influence has really set in now. Currently 124.3hr sun
this July. Will we beat last year's dismal 126.5hr? CEP Brooks in his
book, The English Climate (I think that is the title, but not the Lamb
version), describes the cloudy, humid Durham summer well. I wish I had
my copy still. Has anyone got one or can point me to one, or even the
correct title? Even better, any chance of a quick resume of the Durham
climate paragraph? I would be really appreciative. It begins,
"Climatically, Durham shows its proximity to Scotland....."

You've got the right title. I have the 1954 edition and I'll try to find
what you're wanting but it may take a while as the index is somewhat
limited; Durham doesn't get a mention - Daily weather map, Depressions,
Dog days, and Droughts are the only entries under "D".

Hi, Graham and Dave,
Thanks for the replies.
Graham, now you have me thinking, have I got the right book and author!!
Bilham's "The Climate of the British Isles" is now ringing a bell.
Sorry to be so vague - it's a long time ago since I read it.
