From the rainfall radar, there seems to be plenty of heavy rain around
on the high ground of Cornwall and North Devon this afternoon, looks
somewhat of a risk of flooding in places but no mention of this on the
Met office website and no warnings are out.

Perhaps I am mis-reading the signs but it does look ominous for some
places.

It's nothing unusual for the SW. Big drops of rain from teh showers today on
dartmoor, but only 5mm rain here in Haytor, which is essentially "drizzle"
for up here. The ground is still very firm and the soil can take it. My
garden is wet but has not been saturated for many weeks, that'll change
during the autumn when the proper rains start.

37.2 mm at Chivenor!

I posted because I was concerned about my grandkids who are up at
neaby Woolacombe, so I had warned them to keep an eye open for
possible floods if out and about. I'm glad I did after seeing the 24
hour rainfall total at Chivenor, we don't get rain like that back in
Fareham! Just 0.2 mm here today.
