Default [ WR ] 18/1815Z AUG 2011 .. West Moors/E.Dorset -DZRA

... (1215Z): PPN now light, with sky brightening up from SW/W, but
until 1150Z, extended periods heavy rain, amongst continuous
moderate PPN which had set in around 0730Z. Thunder was infrequent
much of the time (roughly 30 min intervals), but 1125-1145Z,
discharges (still CC/IC .. only vague lightning visible within cloud
on occasion) were coming roughly every 2 to 5 mins.

Total rainfall (5" gauge BUT *non-standard* exposure) 0900-1200
(3hr) = 44.8 mm
Total rainfall whole event (so far/i.e. since about 0200Z) = 50.8 mm

This will easily be our highest 24hr (standard and 'any-period')
total since we moved here in summer 2007.

.... (1815Z): rainfall read 12-18Z = 1.8 mm, so 46.6 mm in 'rain-day'
so far (since 09Z), and 52.6 mm since 02Z this morning. Light
rain/drizzle currently.

Martin.
