Default The strengths of this Group.

Dave I'd like to differ with point 2!

As a member of this group for the last three years or more I would like to
encapsulate what I believe make it so good.
(In no particular order)

1. Its diversity of members
2. Its tolerance (generally)
3. Its evolution and breadth of subject matter
4. The excellent scientific and technical content
5. Martin's and others superb FAQ and glossary
6. The humour and light hearted interludes
7. The enthusiasm of the members for the weather (all sorts)
8. The feeling of belonging to an extended family and even
friendship.

Just to mention a few!

The beauty of a Newsgroup is you can ignore what you don't like. I accept
that the charter is for a Science (I mean, it's in the title isn't it)
based
group and some of the asides can get tedious. As a retired chemist,
however,
I can understand the science a bit but may not want to learn the whole
academia related to the weather. (I'm running out of time, anyway!)

I think the reason I posted this was to say " if it ain't broke, don't fix
it!" and make sure there's something here for everyone. ( Or was it the
fear
that I might have to send my WR's in encoded?!)
