At least it is when you're on the beach looking at clearer skies over
the sea, with the mist forming just offshore (rather than at cliff top
height - which is absolutely fine!). You wait in vain as each clearer
patch approaches, knowing full well that it will fill in a short way
offshore. This phenomena is one of the reason Scilly is often quite
sunny when the forecast is for mist & drizzle, as it was when I was
last there. Not enough uplift.
Last Saturday was such a day, and there are some nice atmospheric pics

Drier air did clear the mist late in the day. Love the one of
Longships.
Extensive low cloud this morning, with sea fog patches below. Signs of
it clearing on the north coasthttp://www.nci-stives.org/basiccamera.htm

That large hole gave lovely sunny conditions over the sea from around
13:00-15:00, but in Penzance and on the east facing side of Mount's
Bay the mist predictably persisted, becoming thick fog at cliff top
level. You could just see the sun glinting on the sea off the west
side of the Lizard at times.
On the other hand, just 3 miles away in SW facing Marazion not only
was it sunny all afternoon. With wind offshore a hole in the mist
remained until sunset, giving virtually unbroken sunshine from 13:00
to sunset. I migrated a few miles & watched the sun set into the fog
over Penzance. Bernard's imagehttp://www.woksat.info/etcti27/ti27-1327-b-uk.html
shows the afternoon situation well.
This morning cloudless, and just a F1-2 SSE at present. MIn 14.0, 17.2

A dreadful day yeasterday. I feel as if a lovely day was stolen from
us. Fog/mist all day, which turned into thick fog with drizzle by
evening. Awful weather. Visibilty down well below 100m in places above
50m.
Now, as very well forecast, it has all cleared and we have a sparkling
day. No clouds and already 18C.
