I have noticed that Philip Eden has a habit of always trying to
downplay things. To call record temperatures in October merely
"unusual" is stretching the meaning of the word too far IMO.
But at the top of the article it says "1 October 2011 Last updated at
01:45". So Philip clearly wrote his article before the record October
temperatures occurred. In any case I find his measured approach a
refreshing contrast to the hyperbole that we get from the media (and
even on occasion from the Met Office).
