Taken from RTE newsfeed circa 20:10 this evening:

Over the past 24 hours 87mm has fallen, bringing the total so far this
month
to 157mm - more than double the monthly average and four times more than
fell in the entire month of October last year.

Over one month's worth of rain has fallen in the past 24 hours at Casement
Aerodrome according to the Met Office. 90mm today alone according to Irish
Met Office.

A month's worth of rain in a day always seems to be a pretty handy
indicator of a serious rainfall situation.

I've not had one drop of rain from this 'event' which started early on
Sunday,
and I don't expect to either as the current rain band decays only for
another
to form over eastern England early tomorrow.

There won't be many places in the country that will be able to say that
in 36 hours time.
