As is often the case both sides trying to prove their case by presenting
the scale that most suits their arguement. It's laughable that the
second graph is doing exactly what the first graph is being criticised
for! Didn't the sceptics say that the upward trend shown prior to that
wasn't happening? A more realistic scale would be 1950 to current then
people could make up their own minds in this rather simplistic discussion.
Either way it would be nice if it does prove to be slowing down,
although worrying if increasing CO2 was not the the cause of the
hitherto steep rise in global temps.

What seems to be happening is that the warming planet has resulted in
greater humidity, so more clouds causing stable temperatures but also
more flooding, e.g Pakistan and Queensland last year, USA, Thailand
and Italy this year, and heavier snowfalls - here last December and
New York now.

Would you point to studies that show that the atmosphere is more humdi
and there is more cloud cover, globally, Alastair? I haven't seen any,
but that certainly doesn't mean to say there hasn't been research that
shows this. If research is pointing this way, it would be a very
interesting corollory of warming.
