Default Gritters Ahoy!

Out with the dog earlier this evening, and lo and behold, there was a
lorry trundling up the hill towards the bus terminus with all its orange
lights flashing, and strange rattling sounds emanating from its rear
end. A gritter!!!

One went round early this morning, saw it again tonight. Currently 1C
out there but at least the gale force wind of the last few days has
dropped to nothing.

last year we had no bus service up here for almost three weeks because
the buses couldn't get up the hill.

Buses, plural, what are they? *The* bus does the school run but
that's it for us. Get to town and there is a bus out and back to
other centers 20 miles away, I think the one to Hexham still runs and
you can get to Penrith and Carlisle. I think Newcastle requires a
change in Hexham.
