That little low late Wednesday is one to watch. Features like that
tend to give wind speeds exceeding predictions in west Cornwall. A
short period of severe NW gales can result as the wind is funnelled
around Land's End.

The MetO is now forecasting the only really strong winds in west
Cornwall to be associated with that low.http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/...t_weather.html

Just noticed, the strong winds on the forecast (for Cornwall) are all
for Weds & early hours of Thursday. So gusts to near 70mph for
somewhere like the Lizard

lunchtime today & overnight tonight with no warning. Thursday & Friday
nights forecast to be much quieter, with a warning.
This happens a lot, covering all options?
(Last time I queried with the MetO why there were 70mph gusts & no
warning I was told that was not 'The threshold value' for a coastal
location)
