Well first off I personally see no problem with people thinking others
are
crazy ;-).
Over here July 4th (our Independence Day) is our primary fireworks day
and
although the "Fun Fireworks" like Sky Rockets and Firecrackers are against
the law in Arizona there's a Fireworks stand in New Mexico ~ an hour from
here that makes Multi Millons in Annual Sales and I can assure you not
many
of them are from their fellow New Mexico residents ;-). But even at that
most of the Fireworks are public displays. Pretty dull huh?

Could be dull, but it's a lot safer. Hospitals here were very busy this
weekend with lost fingers, eyewounds, earproblems, etc. Some young people
try to fabricate complete bombs from fireworks and other explosives, just
for the fun and to provoke the neighbourhood and local authorities (police
etc.) and to damage all kind of things. They often end up in hospital with
very severe injuries when their creation explodes too soon.
Around newyear you can buy fireworks on almost every corner here, especially
in the cities. It's a madhouse...
And the mess the morning after, yuck!
I'm getting old...
