The server through which my outgoing posts are sent (not the news
server, the smtp server) is as stated in Germany. So the header implies
that the server stamps the time on the message, as indeed it should do.

There are two things I don't understand:

1. Which machine is it that's misconfigured? I'd noticed your incorrect
timestamps before but couldn't work out where the problem was.
2. Why are you using smtp to post to news?
