I can't remember the near continent being quite so cold as it
currently is and I wonder whether the models are allowing for this.
Zonality seems to be struggling to establish itself, and I doubt the
UKMO medium range forcast will be correct.

Then there's this northerly scenario that the models keep thowing into
the ring.

Of course we could just stay on the edge of the action, but the SE in
the cold for sometime to come.

Wonder if Will has any new thoughts?

See my "quick assessment" thread.

Temperature dropping like a stone, which is unusual given the NE wind
with shallow cumulus coming off the North Sea.

17:50
Temp -2.9°C
DP -8.4°C
Wind NNE (Backed) 2mph

But your main point being just how frigid the continental air that's
on our doorstep is; I can only concur. It's bleedin' freezing

Yes Lawrence. Here at altitude that easterly is going to be really bitter.
Not quite here yet and already temperature is down to +1.1C at 1730 on the
edge of it. Looking forward to it to be honest, but then we get the messy
breakdown at the weekend which will be fun watching too. Life's too good
sometimes :-)
