He probably did it for a bet. He has no class; the proper term is
Pussy Galore.

Did he really say this? There has been no reaction in other
media AFAIK. It smells fishy to me.

Maybe nothing to get into a flap about!

* * You're dirty, but then so am I. *I shall continue to beaver away
at this but at some point I will need to stop fannying around and
snatch some sleep.

* * *I'm perplexed by the lack of reaction on this group. *For a BBC/
Met Office weather forecaster to utter the C-word in a television
broadcast and to get away with it, at least so far, is disgraceful.
The point is that different standards operate in public compared with
what you might mutter to your mate down the pub, Eastenders and The
Archers notwithstanding. *It was quite obviously not a slip of the
tongue but deliberate and probably designed to raise his profile and
for that reason he should be sacked. *He's an idiot in the
Schaffernaker mould.

I would be outraged if I thought that actually happened.
But for a professional TV meteorologist to deliberately
plan to say a rude word on live TV, sorry no. I find the
idea preposterous.
I suspect it was somebody carry out some clever editing.
And who on earth sits filming their TV when the weather forecast
comes on for heaven's sake?
There doesn't seem to be any reference to any apology,
in fact a Google search on the matter only points to that videp\o clip.
Plus, he doesn't even flinch after he says it, unlike poor James
Naughtie. I don't believe anyone could be so composed.

It happened all right, Col. There are a dozen clips in Les'
original link. Look at this one:

The incident is referred to on many newspapers' websites and
Deakin has apologised on Twitter, apparently. Not enough - it was
deliberate, in my opinion for personal publicity, and he should go.
We don't need weathermen like that.
