Reservoir levels are still above the long-term average due to excess rain over
the last two years, so water supply is not yet a problem.
However, if current conditions continue there is a risk to agriculture, which is
an important part of the Spanish economy.
The dry and anticyclonic conditions are also causing problems in the major
cities (especially Madrid), with a build-up of undispersed pollution producing
an increase in respiratory problems and allergies.
