RMK: A real nasty one this morning. By far the heaviest snowfall
of the winter. 15cm lying snow with drifts deeper than 1m around
the house and undoubtedly much deeper outside the village. Pity
the poor sheep farmers. The fields around the village are full of
very young lambs at the moment. They'll really struggle this
morning. As I type this at 0550z the snow has increased to
heavy and the vis is down to about 150m.
0900z NNE F6 0300 SN BLSN VV/// +00.4/+00.4 1010
RMK: A remarkable morning with continuous mod/hvy snow
and blowing snow. 20cm lying snow with drifts 1-2m. We have had
deeper snow accumulation in the 4 winters that we have been here
but this is the most severe individual event that we have had,
by quite a margin.
09-09z: Tx 7.8 (1055z) Tn +0.3 (0510z) RR 25.0 mm
18-09z: Tg -2.9 00-24z: Sun 0.0
The rainfall is an estimate based on liquid water in the raingauge and
melted snow from a representative location.
