RMK: A remarkable morning with continuous mod/hvy snow
and blowing snow. 20cm lying snow with drifts 1-2m. We have had
deeper snow accumulation in the 4 winters that we have been here
but this is the most severe individual event that we have had,
by quite a margin.

Hi, Norman,
Greatest fall of our winter as well with 09Z ob 21cm at the Met O site and
22cm at the Lead Mill. This betters the 17cm we had in February. It is the
greatest 09Z April depth since 23cm during the infamous late April storm of
1981 when the greatest 09Z depth at my Met. O. at nearby Low Etherley site
was 23cm on 24th with a maximum measured depth of 28cm at the 21Z ob. Ken

........and there's no sign of a let-up here. Still moderate snow at 1030z
though the wind has eased a bit. The temp crept up to +0.6 about 45 minutes ago
but it's dropped back to +0.4 since then. We've had a couple of short power
outages this morning but only lasting a few minutes. I doubt if we'll see the
postman today.
