Where and when did you get that forecast from? It was very different
from the forecast for London and the SE that I saw.

So what actually happened here (Southampton): was actually dry from
about 1200 BST to after dark yesterday, but gloomy and cold with
stratus cloud so not terribly inspiring to go out. Night time was
extremely windy but (given my bedroom window faces northeast) not that
much rain. The heaviest rain fell during daylight hours this morning
(and the wind died down) and is still continuing but a strange,
bizarre lightening of the sky is advancing from the southeast ;-)
With luck we'll have a solid 5 hours of dry bright weather between
about 1500 BST and sunset, and while early May doesn't look that
great, with a bit of luck it'll at least be a bit closer to the norm
for the time of year, something that the Met Office outlook indicates
if you read between the lines.
