These days we have a new fangled device called a "thermostat".

This
switchs things, like heating, on and off without you having to do
anything! The really clever ones can even adjust the temperature

they
switch on/off at according to time of day and day of week. B-)

There's no need for sarcasm.

Missed smiley?

It's a very old central heating system.

Seriously having a decent control system can save significant amounts
of expensive fuel and improve comfort but not having such wide
variations in temperature. A wireless programmable 'stat should be
fairly simple to add to most heating systems. Being wireless you
don't have to half dismantle the house to run a cable to the stat
position from the boiler or wiring centre and the stat itself is
posrtable so you can expermiment to find the best place for it.
