What is it exactly that stirs such comments from you? I've never seen
derogatory remarks on here about folks living in the North by us
friendly Southerners yet the reverse is all too common.
As a Northerner living in the SE, I can say that this prolonged gale is a bad one - for any part of England, in the summer. *I should know, I saw more than my fair share when I lived for 15 years 900' up in the Durham Pennines.

Come on fellers- SOH failure!. *I live in Bristol-mind you, I was born
in Hull!

I reserve the right to complain - some of my best friends are Southern
poofters ;-)

Like King George V, I feel the life of this thread is drawing steadily
towards its close. Allow me to summarise:-

TV weatherbimbettes should have a modicum of knowledge of the British
climate.

I am perfectly entitled to talk about "Effete Southern Poofters" as I
have a foot in both camps.

Small vigorous depressions like this one are not at all rare in June,
or in any other summer month. Large nationwide ones definitely
are.
We have returned to the default summers of the '50s-80s. The following
'90s blip was just that.

Born on June 26th 1949, I am a self-professed expert on this month. I
reckon 4 out of 5 of my birthdays are a wash-out. Last year's was
gloriously hot and sunny-another wash-out this year, I'm afraid.
