UKMO, GFS and ECMWF all seem to be trying to pull the Azores High in

Infact, GFS medium term has been quite consistently producing much

Ha. That has clarified a point:
The tumult that is/was the recent series of hurricanes off Mexico/
Hawaii is/was mirrored in the North Atlantic by twin blocks of the
High in the mid Atlantic and the Low over Britain.
I must remember that that set up produced the world weather that hit
every county's record books.
It reaches them from as far back as 1888. But it must be a fairly
common cycle (for a rational definition of "fairly common".)
And its resolution will supply humongous amounts of insight into what
actually causes "weather".
One thing is certain:
It ISN'T global warming!
