That's some diurnal range, Bernard, and larger than anything I have recorded in September (30 yrs). The max here was the same but the min was 8.0°C at 00Z. The temperature then rose to 14°C by 03Z, with a S'ly breeze picking up, followed by a slow fall. Gatwick remained at 8°C with shallow fog. This sort of thing has happened many times before.
