Most of the really big snowfalls in this area come from similar setups as
early this week. March 1979 is one that springs to mind when a precipitation
band stalled across NE England. There is normally at least one each winter
with 25mm rain equivalent / 25cm snow . However, 111mm converted to snow
would be interesting!


Except that the heights involved would rule it out, wouldn't they?
