Advice: Prolonged periods of cold weather can be dangerous, especially for the very young, very old or those with chronic diseases.

If you want more information about how cold weather can affect your health please visit www.nhs.uk. If you are concerned about your health or somebody you care for, please contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647, www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk or your local pharmacist.

Hmmm. Thank God for that advice, otherwise those tens off millions that read the UKMO web site would have died......... Do these F&^%$ing idiots realise how ridiculous they sound?

I think they got muddled up with the cold and "a cold" !!!

Reminds me of yesterday late afternoon on Radio 5 Live, 4:30 I think.
Louise Minchin read out the areas covered by "a series of yellow
alerts for tonight" and when she finishes, Peter Allen chips in.

"What's a yellow alert?" asks he.

"I don't really know" replies Louise.

"Perhaps we should find out then" reples Peter.

Understatement of the year!
