.... Hallo Richard; apologies for delay - have been dashing round
Sainsbury's - that _was_ fun!

Don't appear to be any sferics currently [20/1200Z] (or in recent past)
and the rain both here and in the ragged hook doesn't (from the radar
returns I've got access to) appear to have high intensity elements
embedded - so at the moment I'd not be looking for WDSPR CB activity - I
suppose a odd mid-level discharge can't be ruled out though as the upper
trough edges eastward.

Since my original post, it's continued raining steadily - now (midday)
an additional 5.5 mm, so 45.3 mm since 0700 GMT yesterday (19th); no
great problems out-and-about (sorry, tv speak there) - fields have great
pools of standing water but the roads of all classes in the immediate
local area appear to be draining OK.

I suspect the problem event(s) for *widespread* flooding is/are going to
be on Saturday initially, then again Christmas Eve: it's the
close-spacing of moderate-intensity/high yield events that's going to
cause major problems for us ... though I hear that elsewhere in Dorset
(e.g. Wimborne) flooding has already arrived.

Father Christmas will have to put floats on his sledge this year ....

Martin.
