RMK: A lot of very low cloud and intermittent fog for much of the day
Somewhat counter-
intuitively the fog and almost all of the stratus dispersed around dusk and
it's now a fine clear evening. Max temp 3.9

I think there was a convective component to the maintenance of the low cloud
this afternoon - locally I had CU with base less than 1000 feet for a lot of
the time. Normally would be regarded as stratus, but if you watched an
individual cloud for a couple of minutes you could discern the convective
overturning taking place. I'm certain it wasn't turbulent mixing, as there
appeared to be very little wind either at ground level or cloud level - and
the fact that it all melted away at dusk somewhat backs up the convective
idea.

No signs of any convective movement in the cloud here. It all looked very
stratiform and was flowing over the contours of the land
