Well, the next rainbow for Southend-on-Sea is pinned on Sunday's snow forecast, mindyou, tempertaure has started to rise and is now -0.1°C (-7.3°C DP), "To cold to snow" one could say, with such a low dewpoint, which originally gave me hope, what it in fact did was dry the last bit of moisture out the air around here. I'll hold fire on an iceday until midnight. Second, on reflection... Mindyou, my daughter had some windows installed today, which I was flat sitting, so the weather didn't stop that from happening. My lad has got to drive 25 miles back from work this evening, so maybe he'll get home then Christmas will arrive :-) Third, 1st class... I must say, the UKMO sypnotic forecast charts have handled this cold spell 10x better than the others (so far). Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" ------------------------------- I think you are right about "the too cold/dry to snow" Keith. I said the same to Scott earlier. Although this has been forecast well I have struggled to see where the snow is coming from that they are showing in the S.E including here, all through the night till the morning, unless we are getting some convective showers coming in, but radar not supporting either.

The output from the European 3-hour ahead radar shows the event is all but over for our region. Yet click on the new 5-minute UK radar on meteoradar..co.uk shows a whole swath of precipitation edging up from south of the Thames - is the higher resolution able to pick up the light snow better than the old Euro radar I wonder?

-0.1°C here now, the frost will be thawing soon.
