Alan, the charts next week are truly amazing. The polar jet is running
well south into North Africa the Atlantic is coming well and truly blocked
with deep cold becoming established over a lot of Europe. If this comes to
fruition, and as you say ensembles are pretty solid now for the onset at
least, this could well be a really special event. The downside for many is
that Spring could be set back for weeks, especially in northern Europe.

They're getting excited over on TWO, that's for sure!

Not sure I really share that excitement, I would if I thought it was
going to be a notable (for March)event here, but I don't think the
synoptics are right for that.
It's not even as if this winter has been 'snow-starved' here, far from it
so I'm not desperately looking for any 'last throw of the dice' winter
snow action.
