... late Sunday and through Monday looking quite fruity for us in southern
England. Low slipping across northern France - cold (very cold for this
time of year) air cutting in out of the ENE .... PPN envelope creeping
from west-to-east ....
In the past though, models have tended to consistently back off such
threats and there is always the problem of how much influence the drier
lower tropospheric air erodes the PPN area .... still .... keeps us on our
toes; where did I hide my snow shovel :-)
I have just issued a "heads-up" warning for Dartmoor on my web site for
several inches of snow with drifting Sunday evening into Monday. Of course
with ground above 200 metres, heavy snow is more certain up here. Also I
have mentioned "frostbite" risk for Monday above 500 metres with wind chill
below -15C. Latest MetO site forecast for Rough Tor (550 metres asl) has air
temperature -6C and wind chill -18C by early Tuesday morning.
Going to be some event I reckon!
He he I reckon even Nick Gardner in the Devon tropics could even get a bit
of snow :-)
