"Ground Force" - weather sensors

Just caught the end of "Ground Force" on TV where part of the installation
was of a weather monitoring station for the Scouts. I think at least some of
it was Oregon. At least it showed a genuine interest in this guy's hobby.
Off topic this, but has everyone seen the new DIY electrical regulations.
The great rip off spin off has begun. Tonight the plumber doing my bathroom
said the electrical work would need to be certified (correct, as it is a
bathroom) but said that even if I wanted to change a socket elsewhere
(incorrect) it would need to be certified because he'd seen the "government
letter his electrician mate had been sent" I double checked this and also
found out that my local Council are gonna charge £300 to certify any
qualifying work that you do.God knows what the electricians are going to
charge OAP's for certifying the new socket that doesn't need it. "Licence to
print money" is what his mate said!! So careful when you wire those Oregons
up in the garden!
Mind you, 10 people did die from electric shocks in the home last year.
Grumpy Dave.
(Although glad I did my outside garden wiring last year!)
The answer is to continue to do all electrical work yourself and only
worry about getting it certified IF you sell your house. Then you need
only pay the charge once.
