But the pavements should be perfectly OK then. Any ideas what this

Don't think it's saying the pavements will be perfectly OK - it's just
highlighting that the larger accumulations will be on the grass, as snow
tends to melt on hard surfaces during the day at this time of year. Not
the kind of level of detail I would put in a warning, to be honest...

I think that's exactly it. I've got 5cm on the lawn but all day it has been
struggling to settle on paths & pavements. Noticeably where it has
managed to settle on the pavement it has done so in shaded areas. On the
other side of the road the pavement will have more residfual heat due to
havingf been in sunshim\ne during recent days.
