Yes, whole depressions moving steadily E to W is pretty unusual.
The heaviest rain for tomorrow has been tracking a little further
north with every forecast I see, now it looks like the worst of it
will miss me. Hopefully this trend will continue and Saturday won't

Looks like you are only just missing it
That's right, although the southern extent has been creeping a little
further south over the past few hours but the really heavy stuff has
been well to the north and east.
There was some rain from this system yesterday evening which
petered out in the small hours today but since then there has been nothing.
The real story here is the cold. Just 8.2°C at the moment.
Unless there is some late brightness no chance of making double
figures today. Quite woeful for 18th May!
Bright & dry here - which unfortunately meant I had no excuse to avoid
mowing the grass...
