Looks like the Arctic is still basking in a heatwave at the

How did such warmth get up there?
Strong advection of warm air around the side of a persistent block,
and probably some descent at times leading to adiabatic compression.
All-day sunshine also helps a bit. One June, about forty years ago,
temperatures on the north coast were in the low thirties with minimum
temperatures in the low twenties. Pictures in the media here of people
sunbathing at midnight in north Norway whilst we had rain and northerly
winds with temperatures barely into double figures at times.
