You are right, the machine isn't compensated for altitiude (wife's Christmas
present I just brought back from the Far East last week!) - I think the
readings should be increased by about 3.5millibars. Still an unusual ROC,
especially for this part of the world.

But more stunning was the 10mb rise in one hour between 7am and 8am.
I presume your barometer isn't calibrated to compensate for altitude?
as 960mb seems a very low reading.
