I knew it was going to be warm today but what was predicted seems a shade on

the cool side. It is currently 27.8C in my admittedly sheltered suburban

back garden but the heat seems well distributed within the vicinity here -

five south-east stations on the Ogimet list were all in the Top 5

06/30/2013 at 12:00 UTC

1 London / Heathrow Airport (United Kingdom) 24.3 C

2 Gravesend-Broadness (United Kingdom) 23.9 C

3 London, St James Park (United Kingdom) 23.9 C

4 Shoeburyness (United Kingdom) 23.6 C

5 Northolt (United Kingdom) 23.5

Wanstead was 23.7C at noon

Could have done with some of that here near Brighton. Breezy, overcast, grey

and occasional sea fog been pretty horrid this afternoon, Just 13C here at

17.00

Rob

Hottest day of the year here at 27.3C. Amazing when you think Brighton

is just 50 miles from here.

Topped out at 28.1C here beating previous high by a full degree. Casella mercury in glass reached 28C - so good agreement there

Southend Airport METAR topped 27°C
My Davis topped at 26.9°C
Shoeburyness synop topped at 26.2°C

Best day for long time and July is beginning to look more promising now.
