Default I'm confused

Not the Beatles, please, not the Beatles! The most over-rated group in
the history of music!

I have a friend like you around the age of 55 who never liked the
Beatles but worships the pretentious Bob Dylan. He almost hates stuff
like Charles Aznavour with the chanson as much as he hates the Beatle.
yet when I told him that Bob Dylan had said one of the best
performances he'd ever seen was Charles Aznavour; well that disturbed
greatly to say the least . The Beatle were great if anything
underrated but there was a snobby younger group who detested them
preferring stuff like Led Zepplin graduating to Tom Waits and the like.
For me no other band in history has ever written so many songs that
never once sounded the same.

Agreed. There seems to be a current trend of hating everything 60s
related. I don't know why, unless the youngsters of today find the idea
that their granny's generation had a great time in their teens, with
sex, drugs and rock 'n roll, too hard to take?

In that case, today's youth need to factor in the Vietnam War, the Cold
War, the killing of students by the National Guard in Ohio, the Soviet
invasion of Czechoslovakia, rioting in France, the assassination of
Martin Luther King and others; and more. Yeah, we had a great time.

Yes, there is a lot of bull**** spoken about The Beatles and they did
occasionally release some crap (stand up Ringo Starr?), and yes Sgt
Pepper is nowhere near the best album ever released, not even IMO the
best album that The Beatles released, but that does not mean they are
rubbish.

And before the bandwagon naysayers start, The Beatles are not my
favourite band of all time - but I fear that a revelation of who I
listen to the most would bring even more outpourings of ignorant
nonsense to this thread, so I will keep quiet.
