Oddly enough it's one of the comedies I genuinely couldn't stand

most people loving it. Repeating 'smeg' losing its appeal after the 2nd

time around...



The word 'Smeg' was never inteded to be some kind of a running-joke,

or of the main threads of the show. It was jusr a mildly amusing

alternative swear word that could be used where our current ones
couldn't.

Rather than being an "alternative swearword" it's an Americanism and short
for "Smegma".

This was always denied by the writers, though.
