As I've said before, the reader I'm using (Claws) allows highlighting of
'killed' messages so if a thread mainly glows red I tend to ignore it

replying to one of my 'killfilees', though I might wonder why they
bother feeding the troll's ego.
Hi Graham,
Truly I understand your concerns but, for me, the newsgroup has lost its
homely and friendly feel. It has become increasingly unpleasant due to
several posters choosing to react to our resident dementor. Several of
us have made heart felt requests for restraint, AKA 'don't feed the
troll', but our requests generally fall on deaf ears. I have never
understood why intelligent grown-ups cannot find the strength to just
ignore 'him'.
To be honest why should I have to jump through technical hoops to read
posts when many of the posters I followed have left?
Although I rarely contribute to the forum I've loved lurking and
learning and it is with a heavy heart that I'm awaiting my registration
to be confirmed 'from the other place'.
I'm sure I'll pop by to see how the group is proceeding and it will be
brilliant if it began to feel like home again, instead of some 4th year
common room.
All the best. x
I know what you mean Wendy. UKSW is a shadow of its former self. I've
just registered with UKWW.
I've looked into this forum every day for the past 10 years, and I feel
it’s near enough defunct now, with not many amateur or professional
meteorologists contributing any more. I'll continue to look in every
day, if UKWW is better after some months then I’ll probably delete UKSW
from my news reader.
The thing with web forums, trolls can be black balled permanently by
being hellbanned.
