Is that a euphemism for an apology when one's ignorance is exposed?

Thanks Dave and Phil.

I wonder where these poisoned arrows come from in response to what was a light- hearted subject line.

September's turning out quite an autumnal month this year and that's after a week when only 8 days ago we were pushing 30°C ! The lawns are recovering well now as you only need coller, cloudier and frequent, not heavy, rain for about a week and all recovers splendidly. I'm getting a number of customers complaining about brown patches in their lawns, this has mainly been caused by 'red thread' which they have not spotted so I haven't treated with a fungicide, but as usual I get accused of scorch, even though I stopped treating in the height of summer. Very frustrating.

As for this newsgroup, it's not a patch on what it used to be, been destroyed by a few over the years. I think it all went wrong when they abolished the cane, there's no dissapline and there are too many little johnny's who always think the're right. I used to love the discussions on here, didn't matter how scientifically based they were, but constructive threads were full of all sides of the story so you could make some balanced judgements to the situation. But many with any worth has given up on this here.

Oh well, that's me for a stoneing !
