Looking at the Shoeburyness synop 26.6mm in the 24 hours to 7am this morning and still damp and drizzly. For me near the airport, 23.0mm since 7pm last night, plus 6.8mm yesterday brings an almost 24 hour total of 29.8mm (1.17 inches), looking at the countryside you wouldn't have thought we'd had such a dry and parched summer.
