Wasn't most of that number due to Dungeness power station shutting down
for safety reasons?


Mostly trees falling through the power lines and safety cutouts from
flying debris breaking or shorting out lines. Our old rural local cables
could fail that way before they were replaced.

Dungeness B lost its external grid connection and shutdown at 0710. The
hydroelectric pumped storage generators quickly stepped in to cover. You
can still see it in the traces on Gridwatch - top two solid shaded
daily. Lucky there was a fair amount of wind power today too.

(although none where I live it was flat calm here early morning)

Surprised there haven't been more reports of failed wind turbines...
