6C max in the south of England is a bit chilly for the time of year
though, is it not? About normal for Jan/Feb.

When I was working as a scientific assistant at RAE Thurleigh in
November 1963, someone remarked on how cold it was. The other
assistant, after checking the log book, pointed out that "this time
last year, we'd just gone for a week without the temperature getting
above freezing!"
