I have a friend trying to get back to Cornwall. He was probably on yesterday's last train, which was due to leave Paddington about 19:20, due in Penzance about 00:30. Well, I've just seen this morning's news and at 07:00 this morning the passengers were boarding a coach from Taunton to Exeter after having hit a tree and reached a submerged line. So he may be at Exeter now, just 14 hours to get less than half way time wise. (Paddinton to Exeter is around 2hrs 15mins, Exter to Penzance, 3hrs).

I don't recall so many problems with fallen trees in the past, is it a maintenance issue?
