Hi George, I did hear a rumour. Hope the move went well because it can
be a bit traumatic at the best of times. I hope you will get something
set up in Edinburgh - it would be a useful contrast.
I don't know how Ron and Scott will manage without you as a reference
point for all things weather.
Best wishes,
Dave

After 38 years in the same house it was indeed quite a move but we all
coped, including the cat. At the moment I have a setup using real
thermometers in the screen and a standard rain gauge all read at 0900.
Apart from snow in the first couple of days it's been mild here and very
windy. The Pentland Hills (northern edge of Southern Uplands), a mile to
the south, produce wave with southerlies and I suspect, at just short of
600' asl we are close to one of the first downwind 'bounces' or rotors.
Recent days have shown impressive orographic wave bars on the sat pics
and for real when the skies are clearer. I'm also impressed with local
knowledge of matters meteorological with two people talking about
'microclimate' and 'katabatic winds'.

I have observed many roofers vans in this area. I also acquired an
impressive array of snow clearing equipment with the house.
