Is there not a difference between being interested in extreme
weather, and enjoying it? Especially when that enjoyment takes no
account of the misery being caused to others living closer to the
ocean?

one-upmanship, and envy of the messiah's exalted position. He
survives on his pinnacle firm in the belief that many others would
wish to have his experiences (which is highly debateable), and
because they will defend him from the slightest criticism, whether
justified or not.

I don't think serious self publicists can ever leave the building
completely. They crave the adoration contained within.
