Default (Was)18 years since the great cold spell of january 1987

I was in Leeds back then and found 1987 the first of the almost
snowless winters. After the extreem winter of 1986 it was nothing. The
cold snap in January 1987 brought no snow until the last day 23rd when
it snowed all day that saturday and gave close to 30 cm by everning.
However it would not last milder are had come in from the SW by sunday
and by monday wind, rain and temps of 14C melted anything left over.
After this there was no more real cold spells that winter and Febuary
was very mild and springlike. The winter of 1990/1991 to me was more
severe in the snow stakes anyway.
