So like you I cannot claim to be a genius. Expressing views such as those
above makes me a fool, for fools rush in where angels (such as Landsea)
fear to tread.
I used to believe in plate tech and modern day seismisticism about 20
years ago. I dropped on one of the first textbooks on the subject. It
was written in 1953 I think and although very basic was quite a good
primer. I tried to teach myself a bit more from the Encyclpeadia
Britannica and the like at my local library.
It meant I had to learn from my own mistakes but I could only be
corrected by logic and trial not by peer pressure and glossing over
facts in time to perpare for tests and etc.
The use of logic was the key. I had to try to make sense of it and
without logic there is no sense.
Two tennets:
If you don't understand it you can not believe it and
If you don't understand it it might be because it's wrong.
Concerning global warming. There will be no appreciable change until
all the ice has melted except for the fact that all the ice is melting,
since the heat exchange is going to flatten every other curve. So any
talk of strange weather patterns caused by global warming is likely to
be error prone.
And since these things occurred in biblical times in some cases in
closely monitored time schedules not dissimilar to el nino effects and
the absence of massive air pollution on today's scales.... well..
Then there is the "fact" that we don't know how the land uncovered by
retreating ice is going to behave. Will the absence of ice cover allow
depleted aquifers to recharge in those areas? They should fill very
quickly given the chance, as natural funnels will be exposed (see pingos
and ice lenses etc.)
Note; I am not saying there isn't something very unusual going on, nor
that we are not mistreating the planet desperately badly. If there is a
god I think it best to presume he is very, very angry about it.
I hope he doesn't know about swear words
