Folks,
Raining pretty hard on the top of the Yorkshire Wolds this morning, but only under the trees. Had to use the windscreen wipers after passing under every sizeable, mature, roadside ash or oak. Best guess, 2-4 mm h-1, but sort of dependent where you'd stuck the rain gauge.
Some of the thickest fog of the year was the source of the moisture, 20-30 m visibility at its dimmest. Altitude dependent, with the whole of the upper Wolds (220-230 m) soaking, by 100-120, pretty much disappeared. Visibility at 50 m asl was 1 km.
